There were 33,566 between April and June – with most of them lodged by sole applicants under the new laws the Ministry of Justice said.
With this new law in place ‘The Divorce, Dissolution and Separation ACT (2020), makes the process of divorce somewhat “easier”. The changes to the law mean that a spouse, or a couple jointly, can now apply for divorce by stating their marriage has broken down irretrievably.
